KCHA BREAKS GROUND FOR GREENBRIDGE

Elected officials and young Park Lake residents dig into a cake shaped like the Greenbridge construction site.

Digging with little trowels into a cake shaped and decorated like the construction site, elected officials and residents marked the beginning of construction of Greenbridge, a mixed-income community taking shape in White Center.  The King County Housing Authority is excited to usher in a new era in affordable housing with this ambitious project, to be centered around a village core on Eighth Avenue Southwest.

KCHA is using sustainable building materials and practices for Greenbridge, and we plan for the project to meet BuiltGreen standards established by the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties.

Guests had an opportunity to share their visions for Greenbridge on slips of paper cast into a "wishing well" at the groundbreaking. People finished the sentence, "My wish for the new community..." with some fine ideas, including:

  • May Greenbridge be a source of pride and delight for the White Center locale!
  • Happiness, health, wealth and peace.
  • To be peaceful and have unity.
  • To be great.
  • A safe and peaceful place to live.
