About KCHA

The mission of the King County (WA) Housing Authority is to provide quality affordable housing opportunities and build community through partnerships. We encourage self-sufficiency and protect the dignity of people with limited resources while safeguarding the public trust.
KCHA owns and manages almost 3,300 units of subsidized housing for families, the elderly, and disabled people. More than 4,500 units of other rental housing are financed through tax credits or tax-exempt bonds. Section 8 vouchers also help more than 11,000 households rent affordable private-market housing. Combined with supportive services, each year we reach more than 48,000 people who earn less than the county's median income.
