Housing Options in Mercer Island

The King County Housing Authority provides the following rental housing and rental assistance programs in Mercer Island.

Section 8 Vouchers

Section 8 vouchers help people with low incomes rent homes on the private market. With a voucher, you pay at least 28 percent, but not more than 40 percent (in the first year), of household income for rent and utilities. KCHA pays the difference between your portion of the rent and the amount your landlord requests. Learn about Section 8 vouchers.

Subsidized Housing

Subsidized housing – which includes public housing – helps people with low incomes rent apartments they can afford. In most cases, they pay no more than 30 percent of their household's monthly income for rent and utilities.
