Housing Options in Burien

The King County Housing Authority provides the following rental housing and rental assistance programs in Burien.

Section 8 Vouchers

Section 8 vouchers help people with low incomes rent homes on the private market. With a voucher, you pay at least 28 percent, but not more than 40 percent (in the first year), of household income for rent and utilities. KCHA pays the difference between your portion of the rent and the amount your landlord requests. Learn about Section 8 vouchers.

Subsidized Housing

Subsidized housing – which includes public housing – helps people with low incomes rent apartments they can afford. In most cases, they pay no more than 30 percent of their household's monthly income for rent and utilities. KCHA owns and manages nearly all of this type of housing and many communities offer on-site social services. Learn about subsidized housing.

Boulevard Manor

Boulevard Manor

Comfortable apartments in the quiet Boulevard Park neighborhood, just south of Seattle. Boulevard Manor offers safety as well as comfort, with controlled entry, elevators, new lighting, paint, handrails and carpets in the halls and common rooms. There are fire alarms and sprinkler systems in each unit. The Boulevard Park Library is next door, and Thriftway is a short walk away.

Balcony apartments in the center of Burien. The Burien Library is just a block away, and a host of stores and restaurants are across the street. The building features controlled entry, elevators and a terraced flower garden outside. Residents can participate in fitness classes. A visiting nurse comes to Burien Park each month.

Munro Manor

Munro Manor

Fully carpeted, one-bedroom apartments, with their own balcony. Munro Manor is equipped with elevators, controlled entry and a community room. The building underwent extensive renovations in 2007 that added new doors and entry way flooring to units and new finishes and lighting to common spaces. Units are equipped with sophisticated fire safety equipment, including sprinklers. Near shopping opportunities and a bus transit center.

Yardley Arms

Yardley Arms

Comfortable apartments in Burien, near White Center. Yardley Arms recently underwent a complete interior makeover. All of the units are fully carpeted and have their own sprinklers, and the building features community laundry facilities, controlled entry, elevators and a courtyard. The complex is located on a quiet street but is conveniently close to Ambaum Boulevard, an arterial with many shops and restaurants.

Other Rental Housing

KCHA's other rental housing helps people with low incomes rent apartments they can afford. Some tenants pay a percentage of their income toward rent each month, while others pay a flat rent amount. Balcony apartments near shopping and schools in White Center. Renovated inside and out in 2003, the complex offers reserved parking, controlled entry, a broad courtyard with a playground and laundry facilities. New Futures provides on-site, after-school youth programs. Salmon Creek Elementary School, Cascade Middle School and Evergreen High School are all within six blocks.

Contemporary apartments just 15 minutes from downtown Seattle, Southcenter Mall and Sea-Tac Airport. The community, in unincorporated Boulevard Park, is in a park-like setting on a lovely, wooded knoll, offering nice views of the surrounding countryside. Every apartment has a deck or patio, and site amenities include a swimming pool, clubhouse, and laundry facilities. Youth programs provided by Southwest Youth and Family Services.
