Homebuilding Phase Begins at Seola Gardens

Home sales center/model home to open March 2

Homebuilding Phase Begins at Seola Gardens

Feb. 21, 2013 — White Center

Construction on new homes at Seola Gardens is underway. Richmond American Homes recently purchased 54 lots and has started building single-family homes at the mixed-income community developed by the King County Housing Authority.  The neighborhood, which borders Lakewood Park, is located at 5th Avenue Southwest and Southwest 109th Street in White Center.

“Major new homeownership opportunities are long overdue in White Center,” said Stephen Norman, executive director of KCHA. “With a rich network of community services, easy access to downtown Seattle, an adjacent park, beautiful, well-built homes constructed and marketed by Richmond American Homes, this neighborhood offers a location and lifestyle that will appeal to many families.”

Richmond American Homes is a national publicly traded homebuilder. They will offer five floor plans at Seola Gardens, with base prices ranging from $224,950 for a 1,519 square foot home to $284,950 for a 2,518 square-foot plan.  Each of the three- or four-bedroom homes comes with a one- or two-door garage.   Buyers will be able to personalize their home by selecting the lot, floor plan, and finishes including flooring, paint, tile, fixtures and cabinets. A number of options that further customize each home, such as a covered porch or media center, are available as upgrades.

"We're pleased to be working with the King County Housing Authority on this project and providing much-needed new home opportunities in this community," said Rob Trent, Richmond American Homes division president.

Six homes are currently under construction with completion expected as early as May. Construction on additional homes is expected soon.

The model home will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily starting on March 2.  Qualified homebuyers can obtain mortgage financing and insurance through

HomeAmerican Mortgage and American Home Insurance, which are affiliated with Richmond American Homes.

Seola Gardens is a Three-Star Built Green™ community with above-average energy and water efficiency integrated into every element of the design. The King County Housing Authority is working with Richmond American Homes to assure that all new homes meet those standards.

Initially a World War II public housing community known as Park Lake Homes II, Seola Gardens has been redeveloped as an attractive mixed-income community that features rent-subsidized and for-sale homes, as well as a mid-rise building for seniors and adults with disabilities operated by Providence Health & Services of Washington. The community is enhanced by sidewalks, trails, public art and a community center.  Abundant educational opportunities, services and shopping are nearby. When redevelopment is completed, Seola Gardens will be home to approximately 300 owner and rental households.
