Digital Literacy

KCHA’s Digital Literacy program provides improved digital access and skill support for residents in Subsidized Housing or who use a Housing Choice Voucher. The program was created as part of HUD’s ConnectHomeUSA initiative.

Pilot Program

KCHA’s digital literacy pilot program currently serves six subsidized housing communities in the City of Auburn. Through interactive workshops, organizers learned detailed information about residents’ technology needs, then designed a program to meet those needs. In 2026, KCHA partnered with Comcast to install high speed internet at the six pilot program communities, and launched the Tech Connect service to offer skills training.

KCHA’s goal is to expand this program to additional communities in the coming years.

Tech Connect

In partnership with Neighborhood House, the YWCA, Creating Pathways, and PCs for People, KCHA Tech Connect provides devices and digital literacy training to support:

  • General computer skills
  • Accessing Services
  • Safety and scams
  • Schools and jobs
  • Social media

Tech Connect is available to all KCHA residents and voucher participants, but classes and services are located in Auburn.
