Housing Choice (Section 8) Waiting List
The Section 8 Waiting List is closed.
Section 8 last accepted applications in June 2011. A random lottery drawing was conducted and the top 2,500 applications have been selected and placed on a waiting list. We do not expect to open another new waitlist for at least two years.
We have developed a search tool to help you determine if you were selected for the waiting list or to find your lottery number.
Below are estimates as to when you may be contacted to update and process your application for a voucher. The estimates are based on a starting date of August 2011. If your lottery number is 700, for example, we estimate that your application will come to the top of the list sometime between March 2012 and July 2012.
-
276 to 500 1 to 6 months
-
501 to 1000 7 to 12 months
-
1001 to 1500 13 to 18 months
-
1501 to 2000 19 to 24 months
-
2001 to 2500 24 months or longer
We are now at lottery number 325.
Please check back monthly for lottery number updates. Please also remember all address changes must be reported in writing to the Section 8 Office. If you did not receive a lottery number, please check KCHA’S Subsidized Housing Programs for other housing options or check with Seattle Housing Authority or Renton Housing Authority for options available in their area.
